Teleconferencing Services Buyer’s Guide

Pricing for Teleconferencing Services

Teleconferencing services won’t necessarily require you to commit in the same way as traditional phone or Internet solutions. In many cases, providers will simply offer “pay per use” plans that, as their name suggests, allow you to only pay for the teleconferencing minutes you use. There are also “minutes” plans that more closely resemble those you would find with a cell phone. Depending on your needs, you can prepay for anywhere from 500 minutes to 12,000 minutes per month. Many services also offer flat rate plans in which you pay the same amount each month regardless of how often you use the service. The cost of flat rate offers is generally related to the number of lines attached to the service, so it can be effective for companies that engage in small conferences frequently throughout the month. It’s possible to find services that offer “minutes” and flat-rate plans on a month-to-month basis, so you can still avoid lengthy contracts. While the amount of time you use teleconferencing services will most likely be your first consideration, there are other factors to take into account when choosing a provider. Some services offer per/minute rates in relation to the amount of people involved in the teleconference. For instance, you might receive a rate of $.09 per/minute as long as 100 people or less are on the call. If you add more participants, you’ll be charged a higher rate. Your rates can also escalate if you’re involving international callers to a conference. While the participant can still connect using a toll-free number, your costs will rise. International rates are determined by the service you use, as well as by the location of the participant.
